Windows Logs in and then immediately logs off

Hi All,

Here is the sequence of events:
1) Spend all day setting up a Windows XP to be perfect in order to create a
SOE to be cloned by symantec Ghost 9 onto 4 other PCs
2) Plug in the hardrive to clone too, and boot windows.
3) The windows XP I installed boots, but now is no longer the C: drive, but
the E: drive, and the disk i want to clone to is the C: drive
4) Decide not to clone and see what the problem is
5) remove the clone, and try and boot from the original
6) the original no longer logs in, just logs in and immediately logs out.

How can i fix this, I spent all day getting this image perfect, please give
me help!

Can you get into Safe Mode?

Did you have the original drive on the secondary controller by mistake?

The problem may be an incorrect system drive letter. With a networked
machine, open the registry and connect to the problematic machine and
navigate to:

[MACHINE_NAME\HKLM\SYSTEM\MountedDevices]

and delete all values that look like this:

\DosDevices\C
\DosDevices\D
\DosDevices\E
and so on

When finished, make sure you disconnect the machine from the registry. There
are other ways to gain access to the registry if you cannot connect to the
problematic machine via networked Registry.
