Windows log-on screen

When I start my Windows XP it starts up waiting for me to point and click on
my user profile (or picture) to get it to continue loading and start. I
would rather boot up, and have it go straight into the desktop and load all
the drivers and everything on its own instead of waiting for me to tell it
to continue. Sometimes I want to reset or restart and continue on with
something else in my busy day and not have to wait for it to ask me if this
is who I am and to continue, then wait for it to complete it's loading...
what can I change and not screw it up???

Try this:

Go to Start => Run and type in "control userpasswords2" {two words and
without the quotes}

In the window that opens, uncheck the box 'Users must enter a user
name and password to use this computer'.

Open a command window and type 'control userpasswords2'. A dialogue box
will open. Clear the box that requires users to enter a username and
password. You will be asked for username and password. Next time you boot,
you will go straight to that account.

Alternatively, if you have the TweakUI powertoy loaded, this can be achieved
via that.

The easiest way is to get TweakUI for XP from Microsoft.

There's a simple option in there for what you want to do.

You can do but you need to consider the SECURITY implications of this. You
may be the only USER but could others have physical access to your machine?
Do you have confidential data on it? Could other people, either maliciously
or unconsciously do damage to your data or programs? If you answer yes to
any one of those then you need to consider VERY VERY carefully how secure
you want your machine to be.

I posted this question before and some one gave me the information to remove
my login user picture and name so it would go straight into windows instead
of waiting for me to click on the only user ID on the system, but for some
reason now since there isn't any picture or name to select from, it will sit
there and wait for what ever it is waiting for and I get so confused trying
to get it to start, I forget what keys I end up hitting to get it to pull up
the screen showing me the login and asking for the password (which is not
one set to enter) and them when I hit the <enter> box, it continues to load
windows... what have I possible messed up?
