Windows Lock up, now HD inaccessible

Had a lockup today while using Premiere Pro. Couldn't get Windows to
respond at all and had to hold the power button down to turn off the
machine. Upon restart, one of the two partitions on my second hard drive
is inaccessible. The other partition works fine. Windows shows the
inaccessible partition as Heathy in Drive Management. Have tried chkdsk as
well as several disk recovery programs both in normal and safe mode. They
either lock up the machine or are not able to find the inaccessible drive.

Looking for any suggestions on how to access the data on the drive
(partition) so that I can move it to a good drive and reformat.

No backup. Yes, I sould know better....

Thanks for any leads,
Mike

Another option is to try the Recovery Console chkdsk, if you have a
Windows xp disk, or you have it installed on your hard drive.

Also you could try the command line chkdsk (within Windows) with the /v
option (and no /f option initially), making a note of any error messages
[Start > Run > cmd > chkdsk /? ]

eg
chkdsk /v /i /c e:
