Does windows live update include downloading service packs? Or, would it
somehow ask me first if I want to download a service pack before it
downloaded it? Thanks - in advance - for your help.

Service Packs normally contain Security Updates as well as Performance Updates.
Thus, it will fall under priority, and auto download if your computer is set
to receive them automatically.

If you don't want it 1st up,(wait to see what the reaction is!) change your
update downloads to notify you when updates are available.

Yes.

By default, Vista installs updates, including available service packs,
automatically. If you want to be prompted for approval, rather than
haveVista update in the background, you need to change your settings in
Control Panel > System and Maintenance > Windows Update > Settings.

The first 2 answers are incorrect. For something as big as a service pack
you will have to manually tell it to update.

According to Microsoft, Vista's upcoming service pack will be deployed in
several ways, one of them is through Windows Update. Express delivery, as
they call it, will only include what's needed on each individual computer.
The download will weigh in at about 50 MB (not that big, really).

Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. After reading the two URLs
you provided, I believe that I do have SP1 installed - and I checked the
settings on the updating program and they are set to automatic. Again,
thanks for your help - I appreciate it.
