I had WLPG installed on my HP Pavillion with Windows XP Media Center Edition
SP3. Through an unrelated issue, I had to run a non-destructive recovery,
Since I am up and running again, Windows Live Installer refuses to install
WLPG. I have been looking everywhere and am unable to find a solution. I copy
here the text from Event Viewer > Application: "The description for Event ID
(5000) in Source (WindowsLiveSetup) cannot be found. The computer may not
have the necessary registry information. You ma be able to use the
/AUXSOURCE=flag to retrive this description; see Help and Support for
details. the following information is part of the event: wlsetupdiagnostic,
windows live photo gallery 12.0.1308.1023, oninstalled_ 0x80240022,
12.0.1471.1025. Nil, NIL, NIL, NIL..

Does anyone her have a solution? I would appreciate.

Unfortunately, MS leaves users in many, many cases and situations totally in
the dark w/o giving any advice or help (must have something to do with all
these academics who do not know the real world but think only in some spheric
models).

Hello,

The issue seems to be very unusual since there is no reply. However, I found
a solution which cost some money (which MS should pay back to me!). I entered
the code 0x80240022 in Google. It turned up a program named regcure which
downloaded and ran. It removed quite a number of error registry entries. I
then ran the installer and voila the bloody thing installed. So, this means
that there was a registry entry or more that prevented a proper installation
after the recovery! This is something that MS should somehow fix.

To mention this, the error code is normally and as it appears connected with
activities on Windows Defender.
