Hi!

My Windows Live Mail usually crashes when I try to open attachments. Does
anybody know why? Could this be a compatiblity issue? I have Windows Vista
and use BT internet - is there a compatibility problem there?

That problem is most likely caused by your antivirus. Which antivirus are
you running? Some of them are not fully compatible with Windows Mail.

Hi Gary

Thanks for your reply.

I'm using Norton antivirus. I guess my only option is to get a different
antivirus or to switch to Lotus notes or a similiar email package.

There is a known attachments problem caused by a recent update to
Norton antivirus. There may be a newer update that corrects the problem,
so first try updating Norton.

Some Norton users have reported here that when they complained to
Symantec, they received a free upgrade to Norton Antivirus 2009, which
cured the problem.

If no joy, uninstall Norton antivirus and follow up with their debris removal tool:

If you like, we can recommend a more compatible free antivirus.

Hi Gary

Thanks a lot - the problem seems to be fixed now. I contacted Symantec and
they upgraded me to Norton Internet Security 2009 and so far I have been able
to open attachments without any problem.

Thanks very much for your help! Super!

You're very welcome. Thanks for reporting back.
Good to hear that Symantec got your Norton fixed up.
