Windows Live Mail - "catastrophic failure"

Attempting to load WLM 2008, at the point
where I accepted the Terms & Conditions
the screen blanked out then returned with
error 0x8000ffff - catastrophic failure.
Checking Google, this seems to be a problem
for many people but with no solution so far.
All suggestions greatly appreciated.

Try the "microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop" newsgroup for WLM
help.

Current (2009) WLM is 14.0.8064.0208 from http://download.live.com .

Thanks, but seems most complaints relate to Messenger
which I don't use, and so far found no solutions for Live
Mail. Tried some suggestions e.g. deleting download
and all refs to Live Mail, then again downloading and
installing, but no success. Guess I'll stick to OE6....
