Windows key not working

Hi there i am trying to install my copy of xp but it says the product key is
already used. Now the cd was lying around the office so it's possible that
someone either mistakenly used the product key or it was stolen.
How should i go about this?
is there a way i can see who this key is registered to?

You need to find the Windows XP CD that came with your
Product Key. There is no way to tell if someone has already
used and activated Windows XP with your Product Key.
