Flatten and rebuild. Boot from the OS installation CD, wipe the old OS
partition (reformat it), and install a *fresh* copy of the OS. Then do the
driver installs followed by updates to the OS. Don't try to carry forward
garbage left behind on a polluted hard disk that you got with the used
hardware.

Sorry about that since i am visualy impaired, I did not realize that it
didn't type the whole question.

On my new (used) computer the windows key + L for switching the user's is
not working. What it does is just locks the computer and asks for password
for the user. Even when the usercode does not have a password. I don't know
if this can be fixed without having to do a complete reinstall. Any help and
or information in that direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

not working. What it does is just locks the computer and asks for password
for the user.

Every piece of documentation I've checked suggests that this is the intended
functionality of that keystroke combination. Presumably the "L" is for "Lock
Computer".

Yes, but I have seen that it takes you to the windows login screen after
locking and then you are supposed to click on the usercode to get back in
but on this computer it is just locking the screen and asking for a password
even if the user doesn't have it, is there any way to fix that?

Thanks
