Windows keeps restarting before loading & cannot reinstall HELP!

hello all

Windows xp keeps restarting on my daughters computer, I have a feeling she
has either clicked something or done an illegal shut down,

Anyway, it loads up to the main screen and just before the windows music
finishes it restarts

I have tried to reinstall windows but it wont do it, I cannot get into the
bios to do a chkdsk and I cannot get in safe mode or recovery

I cannot get into run because it restarts too quickly,

This is driving me potty, not knowing how to fix it

I have bought some new memory in case it is that and the hard drive is brand
new and was fitted a week or so before this problem, but she had been using
it all week before the shut down problems.

Any help would be great

Thank you
Michele

You need to post complete copies of Error Reports.

Please post a copy of the Stop Error Report.

Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should help by
allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Right click on
the My Computer icon on the Desktop and select Properties, Advanced,
Start-Up and Recovery, System Failure and uncheck box before
Automatically Restart.

Do not re-enable automatic restart on system failure even after you have
solved the problem as it's better disabled. Check for variants of the
Stop Error message.

An alternative is to keep pressing the F8 key during Start-Up and select
option - Disable automatic restart on system failure.

Please post copies of all Error and Warning Reports appearing in
the System and Application logs in Event Viewer for the last boot. No
Information Reports or Duplicates please. Indicate which also appear in
a previous boot.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer. When researching the meaning
of the error, information regarding Event ID, Source and Description
are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308427/en-us

Part of the Description of the error will include a link, which you
should double click for further information. You can copy using copy
and paste. Often the link will, however, say there is no further
information.

(Please note the hyperlink above is for illustration purposes only)

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

windwos does not stay on long enough for mne to disable anything as I have
tried the do the automatic disable report thingy

There is also no error reports at all, it simply logs on to window, restarts
and keeps doing this over and over

I cannot get into bios

I can press f8 but cannot find anywhere to disable automatic restart

Thanks

Try to do it on Boot up by Tapping the F8 then you will get the Boot up
options, select Last known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that
worked)
If it did boot up, please run a through scan and Chkdsk from there and also
the Event viewer for error messages(X).
If this didn't take you to the Windows desktop try the F8 again then select
Either safe mode or the Disable automatic restart on system failure.

Another, does your machine get Hot, it could be overheating issue, try to
unplug the mains, give it five minutes then plug the cable to the mains and
try to boot up, does it help?.

The F8 key should up a Menu listing StartUp options and Disable
automatic restart on system failure is one of these.

Earlier I posted an abreviated text. This extra bit may apply here.

If you are using a wireless keyboard and the F8 key does not work
substitute a wired keyboard and mouse for this exercise only.
