I tried downloading an update from Windows for Office and
I was asked to place the original disk in however this
was not supplied with the computer when I purchased it
second hand.Now I cannot get into excel,outlook etc as
the installer automatically starts and doesnt allow me to
get in.

Any ideas how to fix this

Try this: "How to Restore the Operating System to a Previous State in
Windows XP" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=306084).
You may run an illegal installation of Office if the former owner of
this PC did not give you the installation media.
