I am running xp home sp2.
all was well until I tried a trail tune up package .
It seems to have reduced my start up programmes such as my virus scanner and
anti spyware etc.
I also cannot uninstall,anything getting a message
"The windows installer service could not be accessed. this can be if you are
running in safe nose or if the windows installer is not correctly installed"

I'm nor running in safe mode.
System restore did not work

thanks for any help

Just discovered another problem, I cannot get any link to work, i.e. try
the link below and nothing .

Is this part of the same fault ?

Thank you

What trial tuneup package did you run? After you ran the tuneup package, what
happened then?
Perhaps if you give some more information on what you have done, maybe someone can
assist further
For example, did the tuneup delete any files, registry entries etc.
What other problems are you now experiencing?

Depending on the damage, you may be looking at a repair install (on the assumption
this is not virus/malaware related).

or worse case a clean install

Others may have further suggestions if you provide further information.

Many thanks.
So many entries in the registry got deleted that I have done a clean
install.
It was a registry cleaner as you suggest.
I tried it thinking if it did not work, I could use system, restore.
I cleared all previous restore points to release disc space, then created a
new restore point.
However, when I tried to use it would not work

Thanks

Thanks for the feed back, it just might warn others about using Registry Cleaners and
the possible problems afterwards.
