windows installer trying to find a program

G

Guest

every time I turn on my PC (running XP professional), windows installer trys
to install a program called Photo Gallery. it ties up my PC for 15-20
minutes if I don't cancel it out 3 times immedialtely after the message comes
on the screen. It eventually after 20 minutes or so asks for the Photo
Gallery disk. I do not have a Photo Gallery disk. I can not find Photo
Gallery on my PC to delete it. this is very annoying and time consuming for
me. any suggestions to get it to stop this will be much appreciated. Thank
you!

somehow this still is not helping me. when i click on this utility, it runs
saying that it uninstalled the cleanup utility from my PC. it never asks me
to remove anything such as Photo Gallery. it just runs for a few seconds
then says it's finished. thank you for your persistence.

Hi TJM,

Install Windows Installer Cleanup Utility once. To launch the utility, type
this in Start, Run:

"%Programfiles%\Windows Installer Clean Up\msicuu.exe"

Remove the offending entry from the listing.

that TJM was having. After I removed PhotoGallery using the Windows
Installer Utility, my Nero program worked just fine. Thanks a million!!!

TJM, I hope it all worked out for you too.

This was really helpful, but the solution offered was a way to make the
problem go away,
not a way to fix the problem.
The real problem is that somehow the PhotoGallery.msi file location has been
lost or corrupted. PhotoGallery is a module that comes with HP printers and
multifunction devices on the install CD. It works with the Hp Image Zone
application. If you don't use HP IZ, then you're OK wih the fix described.
If you do, you might want to find your HP printer install disk and direct
Windows Installer to the PhotoGallery.msi file you will find when you browse
that disk.
