Help! Receiving error "1607: Unable to install
InstallShield Scripting Runtime. Also get message that
Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This
can occur if you are running Windows in a safe mode or if
the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact
your support personnel for assistance." Dell support not
much help as of yet... anyone have an answer???

I just went thru this with some camera software. I tried everything that was
suggested and nothing worked for me. The only conclusion I came up with was
something was wrong in my security/rights settings. I was informed that is
the only reason for this error inspite of what the fixes suggested.

Try installing as the admistrator and if that does't work I don't know what
to tell you as I never could get it to work. I wound up doing a fresh
install of XP pro, that fixed the problem. But then, I was about to do a
fresh install due to other minor problems.
