Recently my computer with windows XP Pro SP1, & Office XP started something
strange when booting.

After i click my user name, enter password, windows xp logs me in, then runs
windows installer as if i am a new user. then office installer runs as if i
am a new user. when starting any office product, it starts, runs office
installer as tho i am a new user. this happens every time i log in.

if i log in as one of the other users, windows starts normaly.

the frustating thing about this is a longer than normal boot time. i have
tried everything i can think of to fix this, but deleting my user and
starting over again. i have way to many file/programs installed to start
over again. would take too much time.

any ideas to fix this would be greatly appreciated...

TIA

Kirk, go to Classic Control Panel>AdminTools>Services. Scroll down to
Windows Installer rt click select Properties
and in the Startup Type Box select Manual. See what happens.

thanks, i checked, was set to manual already. i tried changing to automatic,
no effect. so i changed to dissabled. rebooted, so far everything seams to
work. not sure what effect disabeling windows installer has on system
overall, but i guess i will find out.

thanks for the help.
