So Call Me Crazy

Hello,

Whenever I open IE, or double click on My Computer, open an Office
application, just about anything, Windows Installer starts with "Preparing to
Install" in the window. I would love to uninstall or remove or whatever
seems to be launching this, but it isn't identified.

Ideas?

How about creating a restore point, letting the windows installer continue
and do whatever it's going to install (I doubt), and then doing a restore?

Good luck,
Engin

I actually did try this tool. Problem here being that you have to know what
is trying to install. The message window does not tell me what is trying to
install.

But, thank you!

Yo might need to use System Internals Filemon and Sysmon to find out clues
to that which is attempting to install. It is definitly attempting to fix a
broken installation or a "Run on first use" situation.

The message window does tell you what it is trying to install, you are just
looking in the wrong spot. look at the top left of the window pane in blue.

Wait a few seconds then it will show. Also capture a screenshot using the
prt scrn button and upload it to one of the thousands free image hosting
sites and post a link to it.
