Windows Installer in Vista

P

Paige

I am using Windows Vista Business. I recently bought and successfully
downloaded Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro, however, the installation is always stopped
by the error code 1719: "Windows Installer Service could not be accessed.
This can occur if Windows Installer is not installed properly. Contact your
support personnel for assistance." In addition, I can't UN-INSTALL anything
either. What is the solution to my problem?

Thanks,
Paige Mincey

What happens when you start the service manually, by clicking the "Start" button? Do you get any error message?

Well, I cannot download anything. No updates, upgrades, etc. And since I
now use Vista, I need to update my existing software so that it will all work
with Vista. So tell me, if you MS experts can't help me, who can? Am I
going to have to go back to XP? I am so fustrated, I just don't know what to
do. And this is all for my job! Any help is appreciated!

Dear Dave,

Was that supposed to be helpful? Shouldn't you be on a psychiatric blog or
something with those kind of comments?

I did answer the question. But if you need it put in simpler terms, here
goes: NOTHING HAPPENS and YES, I get ERROR CODE 1719. There Dave, feel
better? OH! I know who you are. You're that guy always tries to start some
s-----. Leave me alone, will ya?

Hi Paige,

I feel your pain. I am having the same issue. NOTHING posted online is
working for me. I am really thinking about just going to LINUX and being
done with this. At least then when something doesn't work I would not have
paid a couple hundred bucks for it. Microsoft needs to look at their
buisness plan real hard and make it about the customer!
