windows installer error messagess

Hi, I am going crazy trying to fix my computer. For a while, I have been
getting installer on startup, flickering on and off! Now I cannot remove any
programs or install some others. It seems to be missing all the msi stuff
needed. I have tried to the error 1719 solution - Didnt work! Then I tried
the Windows installer cannot be accessed solution as suggested in this forum.
Both to no avail. Can anyone sugggest anything else ?????????

I have tried all that, and it still wont work !!!! It is frustrating. there
dosnt seem to be anything on there even thought it is saying that 3.1 is
installed.

Error 1719 Windows Installer Fix

(For XP Users) Download Windows Installer v3.0 from previous thread. It is Windows Update KD893803. Run it! The new file size of msiexec.exe will be 77,312 bytes and the file date will be 08/04/2004. Now use your windows search or go to dos and search for msiexec.exe /s. It will be located in several places. The main thing is to check the file size. Any instance of msiexec.exe that is different than 77,312, delete. Run the windows installer v3.0 update. Now the new installer program will be located in %sysroot%\windows\$MSI31Uninstall_KB893803$. Open that folder and execute the msiexec.exe file. It will bring up an arguement list window for the Windows Installer. Click ok and reboot. The system will automatically copy the new msiexec.exe (77,312) into the appropriate directories. GOOD LUCK!

Hey,

I have the same issue, tried every variation suggested by the knowledge folk
including cleanup utility. That little gem denied acces for the same reason
as I cannot enter Excel "windows installer could not be accessed...if in safe
mode..."

The only thing I don't know is if I am in safe mode...but highly unlikely.

Oddured yesterday afternoon after attempting to instal SP2, again, and
succesfully installing a couple of minor office downloads.

Frustrated is not nice since my business files are in Excel!
