I recently installed Windows Server 2003 and I can't seem to install programs
properly. Anything using the Windows Installer either doesnt run or doesnt
run correctly

I cant find any Windows Installer updates on the net for Win2k3 and the
utils for 'fixing' it doesnt work either (i.e. msicuu.exe can't install).

The platform SDK off the net doesnt install either.

I know its not a os/build issue because I have the same build running on two
other machines just fine.

Any suggestions?
TIA.

Hi

Note that there are newsgroups available that are more Windows Server 2003
relevant:

microsoft.public.windows.server.*
e.g.
microsoft.public.windows.server.general

For Windows Installer trouble on Windows Server 2003 I would have tried the
following.

Runned this one and selected "Default":

Windows Installer Fix (Line 94)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Followed the steps in Method 1 here:

The "Windows Installer Service Could Not Be Accessed" Error Message
appears When You Add or Remove Program
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;315346

Followed the steps in Method 1, 2 and 3 here:

PRB: Incorrect Default DCOM Settings Cause Windows Installer to Stop Responding
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;319624

If none of the steps above had helped, I would considered doing a repair install
of the OS (or a full reinstall).

I cant find any Windows Installer updates on the net for Win2k3

For WinXP and Win2k3 there are none...
