Will someone please tell me why the Windows Installer pops up from time to
time on me ? SHEESH !!! - this is driving me absolutely crazy. I go for
days with everything normal, and then all of a sudden, when I click on an
application, it won't load and the Windows Installer window comes up. The
only thing I can do is reboot to get out of this mess ! Then, I'm good for
another few days. HELP HELP HELP !!!!!

Im using XP SP2.

Thanks
Gregg

You may be experiencing a file corruption for whatever reason, possibly your
HD is getting ready for the final goodbye, I hope you have backups.

Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting your hijackthis log
to an appropriate forum.

When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware with
assistance from an expert. **Post your log to

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.

GJB,

If you know which application it's coming from you can either put the correct CD as it
seems to be looking for a certain MSI file or you can use the Windows Installer Cleanup
Utility & remove the known entry from there. Remember, you will need to re-install things
if you start deleting these entries
