Windows Installer 1605- PLEASE HELP

G

Guest

Every time I open Excel, I get the Windows Installer 1605 error. There is
NOTHING in XLSTART (for me or any other user, but I am the primary user), and
I have NO startup program that I can recognize to remove. I have done the
three finger salute, cut every program that I can (some, of course, are
critical), start excel and NOTHING shows up in taskman.

THERE IS NOTHING IN STARTUP, I HAVE REINSTALLED OFFICE TWICE TO NO AVAIL.
I HAVE RECEIVED ONLY ONE REPLY THAT WAS NOT GERMANE TO THE QUERY ABOVE.
THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM POSTED FOR MORE THAN 90 DAYS.

thank you.

Did you try Google web search
windows +1605 +excel

and a Google Groups Search

Searching web pages is becoming
less and less productive because there are so many web pages are
copying and repeating and repeating newsgroup postings. So
you might start with the newsgroups first.
http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search?q=group:*Excel*&num=100
search for all words: windows +installer +1605

or try a domain specific web serach
http://www.google.com/advanced_search?as_q=&as_sitesearch=support.microsoft.com&lr=lang_en&num=100

or enter the following on the Google web search toolbar if you have that

1605 +installer site:support.microsoft.com

This is not one of the most active Excel newsgroups, even when a
new version of Excel comes out. Actually one of the Office newsgroups
probably answers more how to insall Excel than the Excel newsgroups themselves.
But for general purpose questions the excel.misc is for general questions
and is a lot more active. (unfortunate because you did go to the trouble of
picking the "right" newsgroup by the name).
