"Windows Install Pop-up"

Since yesterday (16 June) I keep getting a small window
popping up headed Windows Update bearing the
legend "preparing to install". I run XP Professional and
regularly run system updates. Is this common and how do I
stop it?

You have Windows Update set to remind you of an install.
Start | Run | Paste this in the box:

control Sysdm.cpl,System,5

Click OK

Look at your settings
