After visiting Windows Update and downloading a new version of Windows
Genuine Advantage, all of a sudden WGA program keeps wanting internet
access.

Here's a screenshot:

I don't find it in msconfig, nor in the 'run' part of the registry.

Question 1 - how do I disable WGAtray.exe?

Question 2 - why does it keep needing internet access?

Thanks

The Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool enables you
to verify that your copy of Microsoft Windows is genuine.
The tool validates your Windows installation by periodically checking
the Windows Product Identification and Product Activation status.

I saw your response on the other newsgroup and thanks for taking the time to
post. However, the validation tool wants to go online on every reboot. I
think that's excessive even though I have no problem with the validation
tool in general.

So Carey, why does it need to periodically check ?

One time should be suffucient.

to get rid of it:
if u have alternate operation system, boot using it,search 4 "wga" then
delete the files u sure that u dont create it
or take your hard disk to one of yout frinds to do it 4 u
