Windows Genuine Advantage Notification (KB905474) fails to install

I need to update my secruity and Microsoft products but when I run the
"checking for needed updates" it tells me to that I need to install "Windows
Genuine Advantage Notification (KB905474)". When I try to, it fails. Then
when I go to any help area, it sends me back to that site for an update,
which I can not get past. I have a legit version of Windows XP, came with my
computer. I don't know what else to try. :$

Download and install KB905474 from:
http://www.download.windowsupdate.c..._4bafa8793e8cdcaf4ba4ffc494df32d496154544.exe
Reboot.
