About once a minute my system freezes up for about 10 seconds, there is some
hard disk activity and CPU usage jumps to 50% or so. I have studied the
processes that are running and none of them appears to be the culprit, that
is none of them jump up in cpu usage. In fact the system idle process does
not go down. The performance graph stops moving when the freeze occurs and
then shows a big spike in cpu usage when it resumes moving. I have over 100
GB of available hard disk space which does not need to be defragmented. I
have run McAfee virus scan and SpySubtract. I have system restored back to
a date before I started having these freezes. All to no avail.

Can anyone advise?

I had the same problem. Did every hardware check. Replaced every card in my
computer. Reformated the harddrive.
Still had the freezes.
Then I did a THOURGH clean on the processer. It was filthy. The cpu fan was
covered in dust.
I did a good clean of the cpu and the motherboard. Everything work like a
charm.
