Windows Freezes during startup after temporarily switching monitors

I normally use a HP M900 monitor with Radeon 9600 series video card.
Tonight, I temporarily switched to an very old CTX 141C while I used the HP
to troubleshoot another PC. The CTX worked fine. Then when I returned to the
HP, Windows 2000 began to freeze at the logo screen when the progress bar
was a little more than half way finished. It stays here indefinitely. I can
boot in safe mode, but no other boot options appear to work. Can anyone
help?
Thanks in advance!

This was an issue in the early days of Windows 2000 and what you say you are experiencing was what I
suggested was the problem. Video drivers. But it also looks like "Monitor???".

Try booting into Safe Mode and reinstall the drivers for your video card. Don't allow the Add
Hardware wizard to use what you already have installed. And try to change the Montior back to
Generic if that also has changed. HTH.
