Windows Firewall

When I go into control panel, security center to check that the firewall is
on it says ON however when I then go into the windows firewall settings from
there it says it's OFF.

I have only noticed this happening today after installing Windows latest
Updates, any connection, what's going on?

Hi B.W.,

Are you using a third party firewall? For example, I use Zonealarm for my
firewall, and I turn off the MS firewall in settings area, but in the
Security Center it shows my firewall as *on* because it sees the ZA
firewall, not just the MS one.

No I am just using the Windows XP Firewall, but I do have a router. This
happened on my Laptop which is wirelessly connected to my desktop.

The same thing has happened to me. I am using Windows XP Firewall on my
desktop. The security center says it is on and the windows firewall says off.
