Hi

Are you asked to place the XP CD into the cd drive? If so, and you see
another error message - find the i386 folder in Windows Explorer and point
to that instead of the CD.

Hi

Have you installed all the XP Updates? If so, try pointing to the i386
folder that is on your hard disk/partition

Hi

You'll have to search in windows explorer for:

i386

When you have found that folder, try sfc /scannow again and if you see any
message asking for your XP CD, click on Browse and navigate to the i386
folder, then click 'OK'.

This message occurs WHEN the file is replaced. Therefore what is happening just before you see the message.

Depending on whether this is an OEM install.....

1. For the former, place the Restoration (?) CD in and wait for the process
to complete.
2. If not OEM: Check your settings here: Start/Run/Regedit

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion. In the
right pane, change SourcePath to reflect your settings.

About Windows File Protection

Check Disk runs on every boot: Note - I have seen this happen when Windows
File Protection has either been disabled or not allowed to run upon
cancelling the bootup Check Disk.
