windows file proctection

Ok, all of a sudden today I am getting this pop up window
saying "Files that are required for Windows to run
properly have been replaced by unrecognized versions. To
maintain system stability, Windows must restore the
original files." It asks me to insert the Windows 2000
Professional CD but all I have is the CD for resintalling
Windows 2000 Professional.

What should I do, anyone know?

It is likely that either you have a virus, or a program you
have installed has overwritten a file that Windows deems
critical to its operation.

If it's the former, I'd suggest running an antivirus program with
an up-to-date set of tables.

If it's the latter, have you inserted the Windows 2000 Professional
installation disk and let the dialog continue?

Thanks for the quick response. I will run the antivirus
software to see if that is it. At first I entered the
reinstallation disk and a window came up asking if I
wanted to install windows 2000 so I just closed it out
because do I want to do that? I didn't wnat to do
something and then all my files be gone, etc.
