Every time I go to save a file, run a file, open a
file..etc the files or folders are listed after which was
modified/opened/closed most recently not in order of name
(those columns do not appear in order to ge that I have
to go to the view menu and choose "details")
which is what it used to be - how can I change this back -
it is quite annoying always having to go to details in
order to do this.

Thanks for your help!

If your computer is as messed up as your sentence structure,
it is quite easy to see why you are having problems.
First, obtain a basic book on Windows XP Fundamentals, and
after you have read it, learn how to write a complete and
accurate sentence. If you can't do this, you are going to
have big time problems for the rest of your life.

I was just trying to write this as fast as I could,
figuring that most Windows savvy people knew what I was
talking about - not realy worried about the grammar -
obviously it is harder for some people (like yourself) to
grasp this. Instead, you are compelled to criticize and
give a smartass solution as opposed to trying to figure
out what the real problem is with this issue. Looks like
you already have plenty of issues with your own life,
since you like to spend it online correcting people's
sentence structure - try being helpful instead of being
an ass.

Sometimes this problem can be solved by:

- Closing all running apps (that have buttons in the taskbar)
- Opening Windows Explorer to you C:\ drive
- Changing the view to details (if necessary)
- Clicking the Name column heading to sort the items
- Holding holding down the CTRL key and clicking Close in the
upper-right corner of Windows Explorer
- Rebooting
