I have to agree, leaving the fax utility out of the Home Editions is very
unfortunate and inconvenient. I purchased Home Premium for my new system
and, frankly didn't give the faxing feature much thought since it was
standard in XP.
Now you know! Microsoft doesn't give a shit about their customers. They come
up with all these different versions of Vista for marketing reasons and
cripple "features" in one version just to make more money selling the more
expensive version without the feature crippled. Who wants to have to spend
a month researching all these versions just to make sure that something as
simple as FAX works before they purchase? Microsoft just doesn't care about
its customers and treats them as easy targets for exploitation.
Recently a MVP was attacking Alias because he hadn't yet gotten FAX working
on Ubuntu. The MVP didn't bother to mention that one couldn't even get it
working on Fista (Home Editions) without spending money to purchase a
third-party solution.
