I contact the office when I got my Windows XP about the fax service, but no
help.
Internet service information is not listed.
In add and remove windows programs the fax service will not work.
It says it needs the i386 it is not there on the Windows CD.
Can't find it any where, Tryed to find it and download it but can't find it
either.
Please someone help me
How can I get this darn thing to load, or setup

XP Pro? IIS is not available in Home.

Look on your hard drive for an i386 folder. Many of the OEMs will create
this folder (not created when using a retail XP CD) and stash the install
files in it. Sometimes it is off of C: (C:\i386\); other times it is
stashed under an OEM folder. Example: C:\HP\i386\

When asked for the CD, use the controls in the window to redirect to the
i386 folder.

If there is no i386 folder, contact the OEM (system manufacturer) for
further assistance.

I found the folder the i386 is in (C:\WINDOWS\Driver Cache\i386\)
But when I type int the location of the folder is will not execute it.
I even typed in C:\i386 - C:\windowd\i386 nothing works.
I tryed the system manufacture when I first set up my system they didn't help
me any. Now they want to charge me to do the same.
Not sure they will help.

Lacy, is there an i386 folder at either of those locations? Do you know how
to check for one? Be careful, you may have multiple i386 folders -one from
the OEM and others from the install of hotfixes or service packs. You want
the one from the OEM.

The reason that I recommended contacting the system manufacturer is that
they often provide "recovery" programs that work differently then the XP
setup that I'm familiar with (the one on the retail CD). They should have
provided "something" as it's not unusual for users to add and remove
various Windows components. If it's not fax, it will be something else down
the line. You need to find out how they expect you to do these kind of
tasks with the recovery media that they provided.

I don't know what else to suggest.... To avoid support costs, you could try
searching the internet for a user forum that is devoted to your system type
(brand and model). Perhaps other users with the same system and most
importantly the same recovery media can point you to the things you are
looking for.
