Windows failed to start "STOP: 0x0000007f "

I am using Windows XP Home. Shortly after "welcome"
display, the screen turns to blue and the text display
says that windows has detected an error and has to shut
down. The technical information is as below

STOP: 0x0000007f (0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000,
0x00000000)

Safe mode still works. In safe mode, I tried to restore
system back to a few days ago but it said can't restore. I
booted from CD and did repairing the windows, the problem
still exists.

Any idea what's wrong with my computer? Will it solve the
problem if I reinstall the windows?

well im no expert but ive just went through 8 months of the same crap. I had
no idea, and I wanted 2 hd, one with fat32 remaining...

I never could get any info onit, and i lost my hd at least 5 times.

THEN, one day i yanked my 2 ram sticks out, and afterwards one would not
function when i re-inserted it.

I mustve scraped it or something...

BUT I started reading the fine print on both and low and behold.
ONE STICK WAS ddr 266 and the other
was a ddr 133.

it worked for awhile straight out of factory, so whatever they did to make them
compatible i dont know,

ALL I KNOW IS THIS: i just fell from 256mg to 128mg of ram and i constantly
end what i do not need in task manager.

BUT Its never crashed to that error message since... and its been 3 months.

AWWWWW it was so worth it, and i sit here with one 128 ddr 266 stick wondering
if i should try again...

similar thing happened to me, have you recently put new
hardware in such as a memory strip, this may have clashed
with some components that are needed when your computer
boots.

Also, does your hard drive make a grinding noise when
loading as if not then your hard drive is broken

Hope that helps
