Windows Explorer won't open My Documents Tree

When I launch Windows explorer, it automatically opens My Documents on the
right hand pane (which is what I want it to do), but it does not expand the
tree on the left hand side.

However, when I click on a folder on the right, it starts to create the tree
on the left under My Documents, and eventually the whole tree does expand.
However, if I close it and go back in, I once again don't see the My
Documents tree. I do see all the other trees (with the + signs), just no +
sign for the My Documents Tree.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I know it's not a huge deal,
but I checked and it works right on other machines with XP and the default
settings.

Thanks,
Cristiana

If you are using the Classic Start menu: Right click your Start button, left click
Properties, click the Customize button, then click to put a checkmark to the left of:
Expand My Documents, click the OK button, then click the APPLY and OK buttons at the
bottom the remaining window.
