Windows Explorer window

Carol

When I upgraded to Media Player 11, it somehow changed the way my Windows
Explorer window appears. It use to open with a menu on top, then a row of
icons and text menu and then my folders and files windows. Now, when I open
it I have no menus at all, just the file and folders windows. There is no
place to right click to show the menus. I've tried everything but can't get
my windows explorer window back the way it should be and I don't know where
else to look (if I double click My Computer, then on my C drive I can get a
window with menus so that I can get to tools and options and I've tried
resetting all windows). Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Carol

Right-click on the Windows Explorer name, Select Properties and look at the
Target entry.
Post that information as a reply.

It should say %SystemRoot%\Explorer.exe

it's going to explorer.exe and if I type in explorer.exe I get the same
plain window with no menus. If I double click on my computer and navigate
from there, I get a full window like I'm use to seeing.

This only happened since I updated to media player 11 yesterday. I was
thinking about doing a restore, but I've customized a lot of other things
too and don't want to lose them (thinks inside of another piece of software,
and added new email addresses to OE and other things. This is a new
computer, only a couple weeks old and I was just starting to set it up the
way I liked it. A few days ago I installed Ulead Videostudio and ACDSee and
yesterday I downloaded and installed MediaPlayer 11 and PhotoStory 3. That's
when I opened the explorer window and say it was just a frame and no menus.

I could be way off base here but try hitting F11 that toggles Explorer to
and from full screen. maybe it's been accidentally toggled to full screen.

that is exactly what is does say, sorry, I just gave the target exe file as
I'm not at that computer now and couldn't remember the first part and I'd
already checked that so I remember the target exe and had tried running it
for the start/run command.

I'll try it, but it is in a window and the properties has it checked as the
default (I think that was the first option. The other options were full or
mini.)

Long post, be patient.

Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer Missing Address Bar.

Start | Run | Type or paste:

REGSVR32 /i BROWSEUI.DLL

Click OK.

Reboot.
----------

Hit your F11 key to get out of Full Screen mode. The F11 key toggles
between Full Screen mode and a Normal or Maximized window.

In Full Screen (F11) the Menu Bar, the Address Bar and Links can be added.

Right click the top Toolbar and Select Menu Bar, Address Bar or Links.

Alt + V + T will also open the Toolbars menu where you can add or remove the
Menu Bar, the Address Bar and Links. Alt + V + T + M toggles the Menu Bar.
Alt + V + T + A toggles the Address Bar. Alt + V + L toggles Links.

If Auto-Hide is Selected, moving the cursor to the top of the window should
display the Toolbar. Move the cursor to the top, right click the Toolbar
and UNSelect Auto-Hide.

Alt + V will open the View menu where you can point to Toolbars and UNSelect
Auto-Hide. Alt + V + T + H will toggle Auto-Hide on and off.

In Internet Explorer, but not Windows Explorer, Alt + V will open the View
menu where you can UNSelect Full Screen. Alt + V + F will also toggle Full
Screen in IE.

The Menu Bar has:
File
Edit
View
Favorites
Tools
Help
-----

You will have to try these in both Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer.

or Alt + Spacebar + R.

Try Alt + V and UNSelect Full Screen.
or Alt + V + F.

Try Alt + V, point to Toolbars and select Menu Bar.

I hit f11 and it opened full screen with a few icons in the upper left
corner (back and next buttons, up folder and folders icons). When I clicked
the middle button in the upper right, the one to put it back in a window, I
could see a partial text word on the far right. I made sure the menu bar was
not locked but I couldn't drag the text section below or above the few icons
on the left, so I pulled the line between the windows and the menu to
enlarge the menu area, and it dropped down the text section. I was then able
to get the window back to the way it should look.
You're a genius. Thanks so much to you both for all your help and support. I
really appreciate it!!!!!
