Windows Explorer thumbnails

A friend's computer refuses to show thumbnails pictures in Windows Explorer.
The file type is 'jpg'. The jpg extension has been associated with Paint and
every other photo program on the computer. In 'thumbnail' mode it displays
standard squares with the icon of the program that is associated at the
current time but no picture. Anyone have suggestions? In the past it did
show pictures so something has changed. Thanks in advance for any help you
can give.

Explorer – Views – Thumbnails

Right click Thumbnail – Properties – Customise – Restore Defaults – Apply
