Todd

When I try to use the windows explorer feature, it
immediately stops running, and causes my PC to lock-up.
When I open the task manager to end that program, it also
ends toerh programs in my task bar.

I ran a virus scan, nothing found. PC is about 6 months
old, and works great up until this AM.

It's Windows 2000 Professional. All updates are current,
all virus def. files are current.

can anyone please help me?

I had some similar symptoms with Windows Explorer on a
Win2K machine - I checked in Add/Remove Programs, and
found about 10 instances of spyware/malware/adware. You
could try one or more of the freebie spyware catcher
programs (or just check in Add/Remove Programs for
programs you didn't knowingly install), like Ad-Aware or
Spybot Search and Destroy. These programs, which have
updatable definitions like AV software, will identify
files, programs and registry entries - then you have the
option to quarantine and delete.

Worth a try...
