you to open the Music, Documents, and C Driver has stopped working it keeps
coming up with this message " Windows Explorer has stopped working" so can
anyone help me please i would be vary grateful for your help.

hi
-- is it stopping and starting every 5 seconds or so not giving you enough
time to open any folders ,applications ect ?
martyb

this seems to be a problem that is getting more and more widespread if you
read some of the other posts, just about eveyday there is apost regarding this
,i replied to one yesterday .in my case it seemed to be an incompatible
program that caused it the only solution to my knowledge is a system restore
from start up if you are running nav2007 you will need aditional info to
perform this . if any mvp's or tech guys are reading this maybe they have a
better solution .

thank you for your help and i will try the system restore and i will let you
know if it fixes the problem.

Thank You.

no problem don't forget to disable anti virus as not sure about other anti
virus software but definately symantec needs to be disabled

i have restore my system and it works fine. Thank you for every thing. i am
rally grateful.

Simon, do you happen to have Zip Genius installed. I haven't tried it with
the latest version, t.03.1140 which is supposed to fix the problem, but the
previous version had a known issue of randomly crashing Explorer and there
seemed to be a link to various types of files or files using certain types
of compression. Nonetheless, if you remove Zip Genius, assuming it is
installed, the problem clears up immediately.

Hi Michael Solomon

i have not got that zip Genius installed so that could not of caused it to
stop working but thanks for telling me about the issue that the early version
causes and i will bear that in mind for future reference.

thank you Michael for your comment.

You're welcome, Simon.

Make sure your drivers are all up to date and Vista Compatible. Also, make
sure your applications, in this case, especially those dealing with the type
of media that seems to be causing the problem are Vista Compatible and have
all their updates as well.

Good luck.

i will make sure of it and thanks for your help.

I had the same problem. I have a workaround if System Restore fails to
correct this. For me, It even occured in Safe Mode.
1. Make your way to starting Internet Explorer
2. on the address bar type:"control panel"
3. go to User Accounts...-> Add User account-> Create New "Admininstrator"
Account.
4. Shut down manually if you have to and reboot and access the new Admin
account
You will now have new account with all original programs still installed and
access to old files via either:
a. Internet exporer-> Address bar-> type: C:\users\ your old user account name
b Start button-> computer-> C:\Users\ you old user account name.

* You'll find here folders which will contain you old docs, downloads, etc
from you old account.

Thanks,
spawnocula
