Windows explorer shut downs

Hello. I'm relatively new to the newsgroup and don't know much about the
"behind the scenes" operation of computers; here goes: My Sony laptop
(PCG-FXA36) uses Windows XP, Home Ed. Recently, a window opens and says that
Windows explorer has encountered a problem and must shut down; then proceeds
to bring up the desktop and asked if I want to restart my active desktop.
Question(s): Can you direct me to the problem; can you advise me how to
elimanate it? Thanks very much.

first to figure out whats causing it go to event viewer (type eventvwr.msc
in run box) check the errors and ones causing it if its any new installation
remove or reinstall should fix it.
Else try disabling ur active desktop, to disable: remove any active desktop
element that u are using go to display properties (desktop right click
properties) go to desktop tab click customise desktop select web and deselet
any web components running.

Hello. I tried your suggestion re: de-selecting web components running and
that solved the problem. Thanks very much for your help.
