Windows Explorer Refresh Desktop Unexpectedly

(at least, unexpected by me). Then I open a folder, say, My Documents, in
Windows Explorer (XP Pro SP2) and then use the up folder icon and move up to
the desktop, the entire desktop (behind the windows) refreshes.

WHY? Just curious. Not a problem, just curious.

This is not meaningful at all. I said every time Windows Explorer opens the
desktop it refreshes. Not once in every frew months.
