Windows Explorer Question

When viewing files in a folder in Windows Explorer I used to be able to
select one file and then skip to the end and hold down the space bar and
select another file and all of the files in between would also be selected.
This feature no longer works. Is this an option setting somewhere I screwed
up?????
 
As far as I know it has always been the Shift key that did this, not the space bar.
