Windows Explorer Problem

Prior to doing a system restore, I was getting an Autoplay message appeaer on
my PC about every 5 seconds but nothing ever happened. After I did the system
restore, I now get a message come up saying that 'Windows Explorer has
encountered a problem and needs to shut down', every time I start my
Broadband connection. I have re-installed the software and this has not made
any difference. It also seems to remove the Internet security icon from the
system tray. Has anyone got any ideas that might help.

Hi,

Start System Restore and choose "Undo my last restoration".

Now work on the autoplay issue. Check the root directory for an
autorun.ini file. Delete them all, if
listed, and reboot.

Hi Bert
I had to do the full system restore back to factory settings and as such do
not get that problem any more. I only seem to get the 'windows explorer
problem now.
Thanks

I have checked my system and there is no 'autorun.inf' file. I have done
another quick format and it all seems OK until I update to XP SP2 and then
it's ok for the day I first download, after that the problem has returned
again. It seems to shut down my Internet security all the time.
