Windows Explorer Missing

XP home edition. Windows Explorer, It has been gone a long time, don't know
when it happened, it causes a few problems not having it. I have the Icon
but clicking it brings up "My Documents". I copied what I thought to be the
explorer files from a similiar computer but no help. I had somebody helping
me on-line and they first suggested I back out of the 3 XP updates. This
took about a day. When that was finised the computer was trashed. It took
another day and re-installing all 3 updates to get it working again. Hard to
e-mail directions when the computer is dead. So, does anyone have any ideas?

Windows Explorer is the user interface for Windows XP. If Windows
Explorer was 'gone', you would be looking at a black screen.

[Trying to read between the lines:] Are you saying that if you
double-click on the icon for Windows Explorer, the window for My
Documents opens? If so, that's easily remedied.

I opened my Explorer and I see My Documents in the title bar at the
top and I think that is what it is supposed to do. I never use it,
but it looks okay to me. On the left are Folders with + signs that I
can click to expand the folders on the left are the files/folders
listed by name within.

Do you think you should be seeing something else? What do you not see
that you think you should, or what do you see that you think you
shouldn't?
