I recently updated one of my systems running Win XP with
several critical updates. Ever since then when I open
Windows Explorer and click on File it stops responding. I
can shut it down using Task Manager and can do file
management using other applications but cannot click on
File in Windows Explorer without it freezing. I have
uninstalled the updates that may have caused this to
happen but that did not fix the problem. Any ideas??

Ouch... search microsoft KB, and make sure explorer.exe is
free of viruses.

I have found most microsoft updates usually cause more
problems when you do not have the problem the update is
trying to fix. the best thing to do is only install
critical updates, and leave the others for special
occasions.

try system restore to go back a few days and see what
happens
