This happened to me about 12-15 months ago, and I spent a lot of time
interchanging with Microsoft, but we couldn't figure out the problem. As
soon as I installed SP2, the problem went away! Unfortunately, it has
started up again in the past week. Perhaps now someone may have some insight
as to what is going on.

I am seeing a severe degradation in responses to certain activities. These
include:

* Internet Explorer - when I type in a URL and hit enter, it appears to
lock. If I wait long enough (2-3 minutes) it will switch to the site I
entered. If I click on a link, I can get there right away.

* Windows Explorer (or File functions in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.):
When I start this function, it appears to hang up. Once again, after 2-3
minutes my file folders will appear. If I click on a save file folder on my
desktop it opens right up.

I've run Norton AntiVirus and Microsoft AntiSpyware -- no issues.

Any thoughts, ideas, or insight??? Thanks!

Also, try disabling the WIA service.
