click search button on top
choose 'All Files and Folders'
under 'All or part of file name' i put *.java
under 'A word or phrase in the file:' i put JAXBContext
click search
no files shows up. but i know i have files which have this word.

This is a setting in XP that prevents XP to search inside those files.

The search function in XP is only associated with certain file types. Go to the following website and scroll down to Line 136, left side and click the "Search for All File Types" link to download the file. Double click the downloaded file to merge. This will allow the search assistant to search for any files on the computer.
