Windows Explorer Icon incorrect

Running XP Pro. The original JPG files were associated with Windows Picture
and Fax Viewer and its Icon displays next to every JPG file in Explorer. I
changed this via the change button to MS Office Picture Manager.

The program shows correctly, its icon shows correctly on the 'file types',
and the program is used when clicking on a JPG file - However, the individual
files within Explorer do not change to this program's icon, they retain the
Windows Picture and Fax Viewer Icon even tho they do not use that program any
more.

I also noted on the file association view panel in Explorer that once the
JPG is associated with this program, the Advance button and the Delete
buttons are no longer available. The Advance button is now changed to Restore
which associates JPG back to the WPFViewer. Once associated back, the
Advance and Delete button are once again available.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Lexus,

In the File Types dialog, select the file-type from the list and then press Restore. This will associate the image back with WPFV, and the Advanced button would be available now. Now, click Advanced and change the icon for the file-type to your preference. Once done, reset the file-association back to your application.

If you prefer a direct registry edit, change the defaulticon string here:

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jpegfile\DefaultIcon]
Example, set the (default) value to "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE,8" (without ")

If the changes are not reflected in the folder, rebuild the icons using these steps:

* Right-click Desktop, choose Properties, Appearance Tab.
* Click "Advanced" button, choose Icon from the drop-down list and set it's size to 31 and press OK.
* Press OK, OK
* Repeat the above steps and set the value back to 32.
