Hello Everybody,

I have a very annoying problem, everytime I load up
windows XP (Home edition) I get a error popup that says:

"Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to
close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

When i click the technical details it gives me this as
its error signature:

AppName: explorer.exe
AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106
ModName: ~7680856881.tmp
ModVer: 0.0.0.0
Offset: 00003a6a

I would really grateful if anyone can at least let me
know what is wrong with my machine. Thank you very much.

Kind Regards,

Imran

I had that same problem too. It was when the computer was
new and Windows XP had just been downloaded. After 4-5
days, it stops. I know- it IS annoying.

It is an irritating one, because one cannot get any more explanation.
The most likely single cause is that you have a folder containing files
which it knows will have embedded extra info ('metadata') for it to
display, and one file has this damaged, so it is trying to extract and
(say) finds that the name of the Artist for an MP3 is apparently as long
as the file. . So it gives up, and closes for safety's sake. But there
are other possibilities, and no way to tell.

you've got the sasser worm.
to eliminate it, along with about 80% of all viruses, worms and trojans
switch to linux.
