Ben Amada

I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 5100 laptop. I'd REALLY like to change
the font of the list of files (and even the folder names on the left side)
in Windows Explorer in Details mode. Does anyone know where I can change
this font? I'm guessing it is some setting in the Display applet, but I
can't seem to find it.

Thanks in advance,
Ben

Hi Ben,

This will change most of them. Go to Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this
key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\FontSubstitutes

In the right pane, change the Font Name for: MS Shell Dlg and MS Shell
Dlg2.

Then right click the Desktop/Properties/Appearance/Advanced/
Icon and set the same Font Name there. Ok your way out, then reboot.

Hi Kelly,

The fonts in MS Shell Dlg and MS Shell Dlg 2 are the same as the fonts on
another computer which looks good -- Microsoft Sans Serif and Tahoma. So I
didn't change anything there.

In Desktop/Properties/Appearance/Advanced/Icon, one computer had Tahoma 8pt
and the other computer had Tahoma 10pt. I changed the 10pt one to 8pt and
it changed it to how I want it to look! This is much much better.

Thanks for the tips!
Ben
