windows explorer.exe error generated

P

Paul

Each time I try and open windows explorer OR search for
files on my computer I receive error message:

"explorer.exe has generated errors and will be closed by
windows. You will need to restart the program.
An error log is being created"

I have searched the knowledge base and there are fixes if
I'm running IE 6.0...but I'm not.

* I run IE 5.5 with SP2.
* Windows 2000 I'm running is Version 5.0 with SP 4.

I'm had the same problem since Win/ME, now with W2K - it seems to
occur when I scroll down to the point where I see CONTROL PANEL in the
left pane (right after the last removable drive) - I get a sharing
violation, but don't understand why. Also occurs when I search for
files. It will go away if I left-click on several folders, then
right-click on some (yeah, I know it sounds weird, but that's the way
it appears!)

Please let me know if any of you get any answers to this problem!
Thanks,
Steve
